Third String and Dan Takes it to the Usual Greeting Card

A much anticipated game between Third String and Dan and Usual Greeting Card got rained out on Tuesday. Luckily they were rescheduled for the next day because the fans wanted to see this spectacle. Usual Greeting Card to this point had annihilated their opponents scoring an average of 99.3 points per game. For those of you in fantasy leagues this is an owners dream. However, this was the wrong week to start their offensive players. They struggled to open up the passing lanes and Third Strings, man to man defense was too much to overcome. Ryan Hensel led the charge for Third String throwing 7 of his 32 touchdown passes this year.

No Challenge for Ice Ballers

Tuesday nights seem to have an early favorite for the coveted Intramural t-shirt at the end of the year; the Ice Ballers. It seemed like a typical women's broomball game on Tuesday night at Hunt Arena on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, where the Ice Ballers played the Hot Chix. The end would be anything but typical. The Ice Ballers showed up to the game in their brand new team t-shirts and they were ready to play. Though the game got off to a slow start it didn't end that way. The Ice Ballers ended up shutting out the Hot Chix 4-0. Brooke Benecke had two goals, Colleen Kopel and Emily Syring both with one goal each. Are the Ice Ballers on their way to being the first team to knock off 4-time defending champion Cool Kids?

New Team of the Year

Tuesday, September 30, 2008 - The last two Team of the Year trophies have been won by the historic Team Greeting Card. Today, it became apparent there are many teams that can unseat last year's Team of the Year; 5 Year-Olds with Sticks have the early lead in the standings, but following today's competitive flag football game, there is one team that looks to be the favorite. The Smurfs, who played Ocho Cinco and won today, seem to have created a lot of teams thus far. They participated in the fall sand volleyball tournament and took second and they have a competitive and recreational football teams this fall. The Smurfs may be the ones to beat out for team of the year.

The Team to Beat

Usual Greeting Card showed that experience pays off when they faced the Motorboats Monday on the football field. The game started off a little rusty like every first game does. Usual Greeting Card just showed much, much less rust, defeating the Motorboats 100–52. It is obvious that the collaboration of Team Greeting Card and Usual Suspects is going to be a dominant force this year in the Men’s Competitive Flag Football division.

Sand Volleyball Goes Into Extra Innings

Darkness brought the 2008-09 Intramural opener to a halt Friday night during the annual sand volleyball tournament. 16 teams entered play on Friday and three teams remained when darkness fell on the Crabtree courts.

Play will begin this Friday, September 19, 2008 at 4 with The Smurfs and Ocho Cinco battling to see who plays 5 Year-olds With Sticks for the championship. See you on the courts this Friday.
