Intramural Rules
Sportsmanship Policy
Sportsmanship is an important part of Intramural participation. The Sportsmanship Policy is designed to encourage enjoyable recreation experiences for all participants and officials. Sportsmanship includes respect demonstrated towards officials, opponents, rules, equipment and facilities. Each team will receive a copy of the policy at the pre-season Captains meeting. Teams will be evaluated on their sportsmanship (points and description below) which may affect future play for both the playoffs and other intramural leagues or recreational activities. Captains are responsible for the conduct of their teams.

Only team captains are eligible to file a protest. Protests must also then be made in writing and received by the Recreation Department within 24 hours. A protest form can be received from the Intramural staff. No protest will be considered which is concerned with judgment on the part of the official.

Intramural officials reserve the right to eject from a contest any participant who in the opinion of the referee is intoxicated to the point where he/she may hurt him/herself or others. Anyone who is ejected from a contest is placed on Intramural probation. A second offense may result in more severe disciplinary action being taken. No lit tobacco will be allowed in the field of play.
Care of Injuries
Participation in the Intramural program is strictly voluntary and at the student's own risk. The University is not responsible for injuries incurred while participating in Intramural sports. Each student is advised to carry his/her own health and accident insurance. Students injured in Intramural contests will be given emergency treatment at any of the hospital emergency rooms in the city, but the student assumes all financial obligations unless he/she provides evidence of insurance coverage.
Intramural Sports Objective
Intramural sports are recognized as an integral part of the student's education. The combination of concentrated academic study and Intramural sports participation affords the opportunity for all students to better their professional training and enrich their recreational interests and abilities. The Intramural sports staff believes that participation in the competitive experience fulfills a basic need in the student's professional education. - To offer a variety of activities balanced between vigorous and light exercise, team and individual sports to meet present interest and future needs.
- To create an atmosphere in which social relationships and attitudes can be developed through Intramural participation by upholding high standards of sportsmanship, fair dealing with all individuals and groups, and providing opportunities for leadership and cooperation.
- To provide facilities, leadership, officials and constant supervision in order for the participants to receive maximum benefit from the sports program.

Recreational Activities Committee
The committee serves in an advisory capacity for all aspects of the Intramural program and also as a liaison between the student body and the Intramural Staff. Some of its responsibilities include formally gaining and synthesizing student input and feedback relative to the Intramural program, and reviewing protests made by participants.
