Who is a member of RHA?
All residence hall students are members of RHA and would be welcome at every meeting.
All residence hall students who meet the criteria for elected positions that will be established in the RHA constitution are eligible to run for elected offices.
What is the role of RHA? What is the role of HC?
RHA is the primary advisory governance body for residence hall students (contract holders).
Hall Councils will continue to exist in their current state are integrally connected to RHA and serve as the primary programming body voice of students residing in particular residence halls.
What happens to Res Living?
Res Living as a separate entity would no longer exist;
however, within RHA there would be separate committees that would deal with all of the agenda items Res Living currently deals with including contract appeals, hall improvement requests, etc.
What does this mean for programs that have traditionally been presented by the Res Life staff?
(i.e. Beach Bash, Hallapalooza, etc.)
There has been a tradition of some Residence Life staff teams,
sometimes with support of Hall Councils, to plan a number of established events.
In creating RHA, there is nothing that would prevent these events from continuing.
What might change, is the approval process for funding the event,
but it is likely that nothing else would need to change in the planning,
promotion or implementation of the traditional events.
What happens to Area Council?
Area Councils would no longer exist as RHA would be a combination of the two Area Councils.
As RHA forms their constitution, they could choose to set up various committees (i.e. programming committee) by Area,
but that would be developed as part of the creation of the Constitution.
What happens to NRHH?
NRHH continues to exist as is, but would now be able to focus on the tenets of NRHH which are recognition, service and leadership.
They would no longer have to have an Executive Board member coordinate conferences and they would not have a programmatic function,
unless they chose to do so.
NRHH would always have a member or two present for WURHA, GLACURH and NACURH.
How can I be a part of RHA?
We have a steering committee of students who are working through the initial development of RHA.
Should it pass, we would welcome other interested residence hall student leaders in the next steps of the process.
In the fall, when promoting RHA, information distributed to students will explain how they can be involved in RHA.
How will RHA be funded?
RHA will receive some funding (within state purchasing guidelines) from the Department of Residence Life.
It is likely RHA would also engage in some of their own fundraising opportunities so they can have greater flexibility in determining how they would like to spend their money.
