Residence Hall Access

What is door access?
- Every first floor door of each residence hall has a card reader. Students must use their ID cards to gain access to the residence halls.
- If doors are propped open, an alarm will sound after 30 seconds. Please allow the door to close and the alarm will stop sounding.
- Basement doors do not have card readers, but they do have alarms to prevent propping.

What times do I have access to the halls?
- Between 6:00am and 10:00pm daily any current residence hall student can access any residence hall.
- Between 10:00pm and 6:00am daily you can enter only the residence hall in which you live.

What do I do if I lose my ID card?
- Report your ID card lost at the online Online Card Office
. - If you find your ID card, you can also report it found at the same website.
- Protect your ID card. It is a key!

Help! I can't get into my building!
- From the convenience phone located in the vestibule of your building, please contact Public Safety and Security
by calling (715)425-3133. They will contact the hall staff on duty to arrange for you to get into your building. - If you have lost your ID card, report it lost immediately online at the Online Card Office

What is tailgating/shadowing?
- Do not allow anyone to slip into the building behind you. You are responsible to make sure the door closes properly every time you leave or enter the building.
- If you suspect an unauthorized person has entered the building, please contact a hall staff member or Public Safety and Security
immediately at (715)425-3133.

What should I do if my ID card is not working?
- Please visit the Carding Office in 211 Hagestad Hall during normal business hours. Regular hours are 7:45am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. There are special hours during opening week only.
- Outside of normal office hours please contact your on-duty building staff member to make arrangements for getting into the building.
