Go Do Something

With the heat wave in total affect throughout Eastern Minnesota and Western Wisconsin there are a lot of things that you have the opportunity to be taking advantage of. With all of the activities happening on campus and all of the off campus events happening there is no reason why anybody should keep themselves cooped up inside and glued to the television.

On campus there are a lot of things that you can do to keep active and keep outside. On the Eastern side of campus you are always able to find a pick-up basketball game or volleyball game on the courts and if the courts aren’t busy enough for you, you have a former football field that you are able to play baseball, Frisbee, or any other creative movement sport. Also on campus there are many different trails that you are able to rollerblade, bike, or run. The “big block” that surrounds UWRF’s land reaching around the lab farm and all of campus is 3.4 miles for all of you walkers, joggers and bikers out there. Those are just a couple of ideas to keep you busy on campus, there are even more activities to keep you busy such as softball or baseball on our intramural fields or basketball games indoor at Knowles’s but let’s keep in the sun as most as possible.

Surrounding the UWRF campus you have many opportunities to keep outside and fit. You have the Hudson state park just 12 miles away where you are able to walk the park, play Disc Golf, or have a picnic with your pals. Further into the MN boarder and in WI you are able to take a weekend camping trip with our KinniConnection gear, we have the equipment for a lot of things, and you just need to get off your butts.

Frankly, I don’t care what you do outside. I just care that you are out and about. The weather is great, and it is always fun to hang out with your friends playing something or doing another thing. Just don’t stay indoors playing “vids” or watching TV, you actually burn more calories sleeping than you do watching TV. In the end, you make the decision for what you will do, but because you read this article I can tell that you are looking for something new to do. I’ll be out and about, so if you are out and you see me ride past you on my bike, don’t put a stick in my spokes, just say “Hello.” Stay active and keep the cafeteria pounds off of you.
