J-Term

Welcome to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls! The following is what happens regarding Student Affairs when you are accepted to the University for the J-Term. If your first term will be Fall, Spring, or Summer, things happen a little differently.

If you are taking classes only for J-Term (and not continuing into Spring term) and would like to take advantage of services offered by Student Affairs, please contact housing@uwrf.edu. The information below pertains to J-Term incoming students who are planning to continue into Spring term.

Starting the previous November and soon after you are admitted to UWRF, you will receive through the mail a brochure that tells you about housing opportunities on campus and lets you know how to sign a housing contract.

If you would like to live on campus (and we hope you do!), sign the housing contract and return it with the housing deposit. The sooner you do this the better since your room assignment is based on the received date of the contract and deposit.

If you decide not to live on campus, make sure you meet the exemption requirements.

If you would like to commute and you meet the requirements for commuting, you will need to complete a commuter application. This can be done online.

Part of university life is to broaden your experience and one way to do this is to be a member of a student organization. You can tell us which organizations interest you.

If you would like to participate in one of our meal plans for the Spring Term, tell us which meal plan you would like to be on. All students residing in the residence halls (with the exception of South Fork Suites residents who have successfully completed 60 or more credits) are required to select a meal plan as a part of their room and board. Many others find our meal plans valuable and participate in them.

After room assignments are made, you will receive a letter letting you know of your room assignment. This letter also includes your roommate contact information. It would be best to contact your roommate in order to find out a bit about each other and determine who is going to bring what.

If you will be living in the residence halls and have any computer, television, or phone support questions contact FredNet. The FredNet store is your source for network cables and other accessories.

To give yourself more space in your room on campus, consider renting a loft. Only people living in certain rooms may rent lofts.

If you plan on bringing a car to campus, Public Safety has the parking rules and regulations.
